Bear population at Quinault Indian Reservation has skyrocketed due to excellent habitat and virtually no hunting pressure. With over 80 square miles of prime hunting habitat, many of the bears taken qualify for Pope and Young, and Boone and Crockett minimums.
Because the Indian Reservation has set its own regulations, we, here at Quinault, are able to bait for bears; which makes it the only place in the state to bait bears. We have found baiting to be one of the most effective ways to harvest large bears. It is not uncommon to have more than 10 bears on a single bait. We are also able provide hunters the opportunity to take 2 bears per season. We have both spring and fall bear hunts, depending on the time of year, the hides on our bears are thick, 2 ½”, beautiful hides.
